Land came out around it progressively, and the river frontages at Tennyson Point, Putney and Huntleys Point developed on a different timetable again because they were taken up for the water rather than the land.

Not honestly, and we would rather say so than guess. In a suburb built in one decade a plumber can generalise from the street and usually be right. Here the correct answer changes street by street, and sometimes within a street, so anybody quoting you a material and an age over the phone is telling you about the average rather than about your house. A look at the fittings and a camera where it matters answers it properly in about an hour.
